Gorton 3U Mechanical Engraver
The Gorton 3U 2-dimensional pantograph engraver was at the heart of Dura’s manufacturing capabilities through the mid 1970s. It was a highly accurate precision tool capable of engraved markings .002” tall. The 3U weighed over 700 lbs and included a ¼ horsepower A/C motor that enabled spindle speeds between 3,800-15,000 RPM. Ball bearings and a heavy box construction insured smooth operation and vibration absorption.
